Prison ministry week 2

We had another amazing evening with the men in the Crawford County Dentention Center tonight. Again, I think I was the one who got the most from it. The men were really engaged, and we were able to share God's love and fellowship with them for an hour and a half.

One thing that is clear. These guys worry about their families. We need to pray for the wives, girlfriends, and especially the children of men that are in jail. They are the ones most impacted. They aren't given three meals per day. They are in situations where the bills aren't getting paid, food and shelter may not be priorities, and drugs are common.

I am amazed at the way these guys respond to Bryan & Kolby. Not really Kolby, he is a rock star, the guys love him, and everytime he sings they give him an ovation. Bryan claims that one of the guys clapped after he spoke tonight, but I think he was killing a fly. Either way, I'm just along for a very awesome ride, and feel very blessed to be a part of this.

Comfort zone?

Do you stay inside your comfort zone, or do you push your limits? Why do some things come easier to some than others?

Tonight, I got to dive into both of those questions and what I learned was that maybe I was just lazy or haven't pushed myself enough.

January Preview

Our next meeting will be January 21st at 7pm. We will meet at the Bailey's garage. We will have food and attempt to get Bronson to impress us with his eating prowess. I have little faith that he will perform to his maximum ability, but we can hope. This month we will set goals for the year, and appoint leaders for each goal so we can be sure to achieve them. I look forward to seeing you there!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

When I think of words that describe the way I feel this time of year, thankful comes to the top of the list. My children, my wife, my job, my home, and cars. My extended family, my computer, my iPhone, my guns, my freedom, my vacations, my boat, my....insert meaningless materialistic item here. Wow, I am so very blessed! Why is it, I can still find silly things to complain about? I let minor inconviences annoy me. I need perspective, or a swift kick in the head. What I really need, is to get off my behind, and do something that doesn't refer to me. This Friday, Christmas Day, we are going to the Community Rescue Mission in Ft. Smith to serve lunch. I pray that this isn't a one time thing that we do for ourselves to make us feel good. Hopefully, we gain the perspective we need, to build off the experience. This must become a movement in our community to help those less fortunate and generate sustainable momentum towards a goal of victory through Jesus. We aren't going to preach. We are going to help and love. If you would like to join us, meet there at 11am Friday. After all, it's Jesus' birthday.

Merry Christmas!!!!!
